Thinner, Lighter and Faster iPad Air
Nobody saw this coming. The fifth version of Apple’s iPad is called iPad Air.
It is 20% thinner at 7.55 mm, 28% lighter at 1 lb ( 469 g ) and faster with A7 chip, 64 bit processor ( featured in iPhone 5S ). The 9.7 inch tablet will be available starting November 1, 2013. The retail price starts at 499 ( Retina display, 16GB Wi-Fi )
Unveiled yesterday, Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president for Worldwide Marketing said, “iPad created an entirely new mobile computing experience, and the new iPad Air is another big leap ahead. It is so thin, light and powerful, once you hold one in your hand you will understand what a tremendous advancement this is”.
The “most valuable brand” also announced a new version of its iPad mini. The 7.9 inch screen now features Retina display ( 2048×1536 pixels ). It also has A7 chip inside. The price starts at $299 ( 16GB Wi-Fi ) and $399, with Retina display .
It is interesting to note that Apple has tweaked the price range of new iPad products from $299 to $499. Obviously, this is Apple’s effort to keep its lead in the tablet market as rivals Samsung, LG, Nokia and others are keeping up.

What do you think of the new iPad Air and iPad Mini 2? As for me, it’s just too bad, they did not introduce the fingerprint sensor in these 2 devices.
