Sorry Samsung, your new Galaxy S8 will have limited sales because buyers are waiting for iPhone 8.
That’s according to the report by research firm TrendForce . The market study says the global production level of smartphones dropped 23% for the first quarter of 2017 and is expected to be slow until Apple will release its 10th anniversary iPhone devices that will arrive in the third quarter. TrendForce said it expects Samsung and other smartphone makers to post lacklustre growth as a result.
In a press statement however, Samsung said that pre-orders for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are already outpacing the orders for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7+ released last year. The company said its Galaxy S8+ is more popular model among early buyers in the United States.
Furthermore, some have reported that Samsung has increased the production due to stronger demand for the premium-priced S8 Plus.
We shall see this in one week’s time when S8 is released in the US. It is far too early to accurately determine how the long feud between Samsung and Apple will play out. Yes, the hype for iPhone 8 is ever increasing. Samsung has yet to prove that Note 7 disaster is a thing of the past. Rave reviews about S8 have plagued the internet. Rumours have also been circulating about the new game changing features of the iPhone 8.
You may ask, what’s the current score card?
Samsung is still the world’s top smartphone brand by market share, with a 26.1 percent share of the global smartphone market, followed by Apple with 16.9 percent slice of the pie. Huawei, Oppo, BBK/Vivo and LG round out the top six makers by market share.
After much speculation, Samsung has finally launched the Galaxy S8. We can now forget the Note 7 fiasco. This will be the toughest test ever for the world’s biggest smartphone maker.

A recent study by a UK Communications regulator reflects an excessive use of technology that disrupts our normal life.
Research by Ofcom reveals that UK adults spend an average of eight hours and 41 minutes a day on media devices, compared with the average night’s sleep of eight hours and 21 minutes.
Among those surveyed, more alarming are the habits of 16-24 years old who squeezed 9 hours 8 minutes each day by multi-tasking and using different media and devices at the same time.
For the first time since 2009, TV viewing has fallen to under 4 hours per day and people have turned to tablets and smartphones.
On a positive note however, the report suggests that children were found to have an advanced understanding of technology devices, with six-year-olds having the same level of knowledge as the average 45-year-old.

Apple’s Siri may no longer be available in China as the U.S. company lost the lawsuit against Shanghai based Zhizhen Network Technology. The decision came after China’s State Intellectual Property ruled that Zhizhen’s patent of voice-controlled service, called Xiao i Robot is valid.
In its court filing, Zhizhen claimed that it has started with the speech recognition technology as early as 2003 and had applied for a patent in 2004 and had been granted in 2006. However, Apple countered that Siri used a different process in its voice-recognition tech. It can be noted that Siri software has become available on the iPhone 4S model only in 2011, which was developed by Siri Inc.in 2011.
Move over Samsung S5 and HTC One M8, LG G3 is here. And iHaters will consider this. G3 is the third iteration of the G series. Here are some seven reasons why this LG’s latest flagship is a killer smartphone.
- It has the highest resolution in any smartphone available so far. Expect very clear, sharp and vibrant display with 2560×1440 Quad HD resolution with an eye popping 538 pixels per inch. That’s just pixel overload.

- Watching a video is a delight with its thin bezel at 3.05mm on either side of the screen. Compare that to Samsung S5 with 4.05mm screen
- It is the first smartphone to introduce laser Auto Focus which enables capturing a photo in an instant. 13MP rear camera. 2.1 MP front camera perfect for selfie. Plus dual LED flash and optical image stabilization (OIS), which helps it to take better photos in low light and video without too much shakiness
- Removable Battery. Wireless charging. Superior battery life with 3,000mAh. So its ok to watch or record a 4k video
- Curved back for easy grip. The casing is plastic but looks elegant with its faux-metallic look. Notice the rear button layout? Just nice.
- Louder and clearer audio sound with 1W Speaker and boost AMP
Finally, iPhone 6 is coming on September 19 ( or not? ). And everybody is excited. Maybe just me and all the Apple die hard fans.
Tim Cook and and the rest of the gang are actually more anxious. We heard Senior VP Eddy Cue said “ Later this year, we’ve got the best product pipeline that I’ve seen at Apple in my 25 years at Apple.” Seriously? Yes, seriously and iPhone 6 is one of them.
