Finally, iPhone 6 is coming on September 19 ( or not? ). And everybody is excited. Maybe just me and all the Apple die hard fans.
Tim Cook and and the rest of the gang are actually more anxious. We heard Senior VP Eddy Cue said “ Later this year, we’ve got the best product pipeline that I’ve seen at Apple in my 25 years at Apple.” Seriously? Yes, seriously and iPhone 6 is one of them.
An unemployed couple from Shanghai, China sold their 3rd child for 50, 000 yuan ( US$8, 205 ) and thereafter bought iPhones, luxury shoes and other expensive items.
News agency China Daily reported the couple identified by their surnames, Zhang and Teng are facing prosecution for human trafficking after successfully selling their baby girl through online site Baidu Post Bar.
Apple’s iPhone 5S and 5C hit 9 million mark in just three days after launch. It has again beat the odds and overwhelmingly exceeded analysts’ expectation. This is a record breaking sales, much higher than 5 million sales of predecessor iPhone 5 last September 2012.
In a press release today , Apple CEO Tim Cook said, “This is our best iPhone launch yet―more than nine million new iPhones sold―a new record for first weekend sales. The demand for the new iPhones has been incredible, and while we’ve sold out of our initial supply of iPhone 5s, stores continue to receive new iPhone shipments regularly. We appreciate everyone’s patience and are working hard to build enough new iPhones for everyone.”
This is not actually required when you are updating on the device itself because it will download the appropriate version for you but some prefer to update via iTunes or manually. This information becomes useful due to Apple having devices that are identical physically where even the model is difficult to find.
So how do we identify which model of iPhone or iPad do we have?
Please note that the model number can be found at the lower back cover of the device!
Apple’s new plastic iPhone 5C is now available for pre-order in the United States and 10 Countries. These countries are: Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore and the UK. No announcement has been made yet when the High end version iPhone 5S will be available for pre-order. There could be some supply issues but I think it’s just Apple’s marketing strategy to push its low end iPhone 5C.
The announcement of a cheap iPhone fell flat of expectations. Analysts think that Apple did not really change its pricing in a significant way. With a 2 year contract, it costs $99 for 16GB and $199 for 32GB. Without a contract, the hefty prices are $549 and $649 respectively.
The “C” in Apple’s Budget iPhone 5C is perceived as Cheap or Color. The new low end iPhone is reportedly cheaper by $200-300 and will have polycarbonate casing in 5 different colors. This is seen as the firm’s response to consumer’s demand for affordable yet capable smartphones.
Michael Morgan, analyst at ABI Research says that “the days of great growth in the high end of the market are gone.” That is why Apple has made efforts to venture into emerging markets .CEO Tim Cook, reportedly, went to China twice to strike a tie-up deal with China Mobile, world’s largest telco operator with 740 million subscribers. If the agreement goes through, Apple could achieve tremendous growth in China which, currently, has only 4.8% market share. In comparison, rival Samsung enjoys 17.6%.
Who wants a gold-colored iPhone 5S variant? I do. It looks classy. Besides, you will agree, we already have enough of just black and white versions. French website, Macboutic released this rumored gold color version of the upcoming iPhone.
Notorious analyst Ming-Chi Kuo from KGI Securities, who has an accurate track record, predicted the next iPhone will have champagne color version. He further added that the Apple flagship gadget will have:
- 128 GB memory which is currently available only in iPad 4,
- A7, 64 bit processor that wil improve speed and efficiency by 20%
- Sapphire home button with fingerprint sensor
- Main Camera, 8 MP, f 2.0 aperture with dual flash lights
Separate reports from two Taiwan news agency have been circulating citing two issues that could delay release of iPhone 5S to end of this year.First, Bloomberg quoted Commercial Times that Apple is increasing the size of the device’s display from the current 4 inches to 4.3 inches. Second, DigiTimes reported issues involving poor yields of fingerprint sensor chips and LCD driver integrated circuits may contribute to the problem.
Some sources, however, said the claim is unlikely to be true, as Apple has finalized the design and will reportedly start mass production later this month. In addition, Apple suppliers denied the reports of hardware-specification changes and confirms the product will be launched on schedule.
